Bold predictions and top ten lists have dominated the blogs, newspapers, radio and every other medium for the last few weeks. I always like to make a top 3 list in 5 areas...so here is my 5 top 3.
1) Things I wish I would have done differently in 2007:
1. Initial MFA roll out, we rocked at the end but should have been more prepared at the start.
2. Not focused some much on Web 2.0 as much as focusing on social concerns.
3. Spent more time on consumer trends across industries
2) Projects not completed in 2007 that I wish had been:
1. Interest rewards checking...a great chance to add to debit rewards program
2. myfinancespace.com idea of giving individual advice to real world questions
3. Cash dude, taking our credit union message to campus using students
3) What makes me concerned for credit unions in 2008:
1. Decoupled debit cards
2. Consumer backlash over fees and/or governmental controls on NSF and ODH
3. Not finding a business model that can provide a sustainable revenue generation
4) What I think are the biggest trends in 2008 to watch:
1. Growing consumer acceptance of PFM and social financial data sharing
2. Non CU and non Bank companies using PFM 2.0 to influence consumer financial decisions
3. High Tech with High Touch delivery channels for financial transactions
5) What I am most excited to work on in 2008:
1. New checking/PFM/card account
2. Social lending and social savings programs
3. Learning lacrosse (my oldest son has decided to play, I know nothing about it)
