I have never been a believer that innovation can be made into a system. Innovation comes from thinking and doing stuff. Wild and crazy stuff and boring and mundane stuff. Read springwise or some other trend watching site and you will see all types of innovation. From the boring, I could have thought of that to the really bizarre, why anyone would do that.
As a credit union, we need to look at both ends of the spectrum and in between. I think my staff thinks I am crazy sometimes with what I send to them. Most of the time, I don't really think it has any merit, but I am not the sole judge of what could be the next big thing. Something I send to them may actually spark an idea or thought in them that it didn't in me.
