It is amazing to me how quickly the first quarter of the year goes by. Is it because all the projects are still engaging and in the design phase? Is it because the challenges don't seem overwhelming? Is it because push back and the naysayers haven't gotten into full swing? Probably is a combination of all these factors that make the first quarter seem to fly by. The full weight of all the struggles with getting projects across the finish line and meeting goals still seem easily accomplished by that magic Q3 deadline.
Why can't every quarter be like the first quarter? Full of optimism and action that provides invigorating reasons to push forward. Why is that the naysayers all feel compelled to set up their roadblocks come Q2? Is there a manual that says Q2 is when no decision can be made? Or are more questions on why, what, how and is it really needed the playbook? If we could keep the focus on delivering a project or meeting a goal, the whole year could be like the first quarter.
So the question is, what are you doing to make Q2 as productive, invigorating and successful as Q1? Don't be a roadblock. Keep the Q1 enthusiasm going and make all quarters of the year like Q1.
